What is Windows?

Answer:
Windows refers to the Microsoft Corporation's
computer operating software system introduced in 1985 when founder Bill Gates released the first version, Microsoft Windows 286.

Since then, Windows has gone through many updates and name modifications to the current Windows Vista version. The Windows operating system offers user-friendly, graphical interface for PC users to create, edit, manage, and otherwise work with a wide variety of digital files, folders and applications.

Microsoft Windows operating systems currently operate on about 90 percent of the world's PC's, in every language and land imaginable.  Most third-party software is developed primarily for Windows based operating systems.  Even malware (spyware, viruses, adware, etc.) is mostly geared for Windows systems.

And, if Microsoft has its way, the World Wide Web and the Internet will also succumb to a Windows based environment eventually, although I believe Google is giving them a real run for their money on that venue, and it might just be that Google will ultimately "own the web" and Microsoft may have to take some cues from them.  Hmmmm...."very interesting".

In any event, Windows has certainly made possible a whole world of creative software applications for a whole world of needs, from the home computer to the corporate servers and beyond.  Indeed, to imagine a world without Windows is hardly possible, and as time goes on and computing power grows, I'm sure those Windows will continue to expand the world's view into the wondrous computing possibilities yet to come.
