What Is VMware? |
|
Answer:
VMware is a desktop and server virtualizing platform that is used to run multiple operating systems on a single physical piece of hardware, while making the servers and workstations appear to be separate individual boxes VMware is a Linux based operating system that is installed on a high end physical server. Once it is installed, the administrator can access the console using a Web-based interface in order to administer the main server. From this page, you can build additional virtual machines. You do this by telling the system how many processors and how much memory you want the new server to have, as well as how much hard drive space you want it to have. When you do this you are creating a virtual cocoon for that server. Whatever your selections are here, is all that this virtual machine will see and be able to use. Keep in mind that this can be modified later if you are having performance issues. Once you have made your selections, you can install the server operating systems just as you normally would on a standard physical piece of hardware and it will function normally. Although there are other virtual server vendors, VMware is the market leader in installations and innovation. Trackback(0)
