Political philosophy discusses why politics and enforcement of a legal code is needed, what they are, what makes a government legitimate, what rights and freedoms the government should protect and why, and what the citizens owe to a legitimate government.

Three central concerns of political philosophy are Justice and discipline, the political economy, and the rules of the truth of evidence in any court of law.

Some notable political philosophers are Plato, Aristotle, Confuscious, Karl Marx, John Locke, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau.
