What is Crystal?

Answer:
In the simplest sense, crystal is a solid form of matter where
the atoms and molecules that comprise the matter are arranged in a highly regular, repeating fashion.  This regular structure often results in a regular, geometric shape when there is enough material to do so.  The most common crystal humans are familiar with is table salt, which is a crystal structure of sodium and chloride.  There is a branch of science specifically dedicated to the study of matter in crystalline form called crystallography.

The term crystal has also come to mean a special kind of quartz glass out of which ornaments and fine dining materials (usually stemware) is carved.
