What is RSS?

Answer:
RSS, or Really Simple Syndication, is also sometimes
translated as Rich Site Summary.  Several versions of RSS exist, but they are all used to provide web users with current updates from sites with continually changing information, such as blogs or news sites.  People who find themselves continually checking websites for updated content can use RSS feeds to automatically receive this information in a standard format.  Web publishers like RSS feeds because they allow for automatic syndication of content.

RSS readers can be based in a user’s web browser, computer, or mobile device.  Users subscribe by entering the desired URLs.  The RSS reader then checks the subscribed URLs at frequent intervals and downloads only the information that has been updated since the last check.
