What is desktop publishing?

Answer:
Desktop publishing is using a personal computer
and webpage layout software to create digital versions of documents for large scale printing.

Desktop publishing refers to page layout skills, but is not limited to book or paper publishing.  It is also used for advertisements, exhibits, retail packages, and billboards.

The term Desktop Publishing was coined by Paul Brainerd, founder of Aldus Corporation, and its use began in 1985.  Mr. Brainerd used the term to describe the small size and affordability of a suite of products that was used in replacement of typesetting.
